Transitions Mentoring Program for Youthful Offenders – This program provides mentors and life skills training for youth ages 16 to 22 who are serving prison sentences in Manson Youth Institute in Cheshire and York Correctional Institution in Niantic. Mentors ages 18 and older are asked to provide one hour per week for in-prison visits for 8 months to 1 year. Mentors and the incarcerated youth are screened, approved and trained by Family ReEntry and the Connecticut Department of Correction.

Champions Mentoring Program – Champions provides mentors for Bridgeport children ages 6 to 15 who have a parent or close relative in prison. Mentors ages 18 and older are asked to provide 45 to 90 minutes per week for at minimum of one year to meet with their assigned youth. Hours are during the day or in the evening. Mentors are screened and trained by Family ReEntry staff.

Meetings are held a few times a year, with most work being done by phone and e-mail. A wide variety of activities are available, including list building and other areas where help is welcomed.
